Rove Gave Fitz Something New

From a Washington Post chat with Jim VandeHei: "Here is what I can report on Rove front: Rove provided the special prosecutor something in recent days that gave in the words of one person close to him "pause" about charging Rove. The Rove team anticipates the special prosecutor will make a decision within weeks, not months."

A source close to Rove confirms that, in discussions with Fitzgerald, Rove's attorney provided new information that "gave him pause."

Shortly after I read that on Democratic Underground, I read about Joe Wilson's interview that there had been very specific threats to his wife Valerie Wilson and they were looking into protection for her and Mr. Wilson looked very, very stressed. Much more so than in the photo with him and his wife at a restaurant about 2 months ago.

Someone posted that Mrs. Wilson had called the CIA for protection and they told her to call 911 if she felt threatened. Did not see that in the Joe Wilson interview but the fact that he stated that they were looking into protection for his wife (and they have two young children) implies that neither current or former CIA are protecting them which I would have thought was a given.

I hope that it was not a threat to Mr. Fitzgerald or to harm US citizens if he continued but Fitzgerald did look and sounded nervous during the interview, more so than when he stated in the Illinois trial in a short film clip that the people of Illinois deserved honest government.

If Fitzgerald is leaking this and it was a threat, I hope he brings public charges against Mr. Rove. I keep thinking of the title of the book THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING about the concentration camps including Gitmo that Cheney negotiated with Halliburton Brown and Root beginning in 2000 before 911 and the horrific torture going on paid with US taxpayer dollars and the slaughter of the genocide in Iraq and now Syria and Iran and the fact that all the public attention has not caused them even to give armor to our troops or stop the atrocities at Gitmo, Belmarsh in the UK and elsewhere.

A lawyer for one of the 4 British citizens who were released from Gitmo said on Democracy Now that she though it was a test to see how the world would respond since the CIA has been disappearing people for decades and it looked like the world was going to let the Bush Regime get away with it.

The information contained in KEEP THE CIA COVERED BY THE MCCAIN TORTURE BAN

Having already threatened to veto the entire defense bill if restrained in any way from continuing its policy of international torture crimes, administration operatives will try to gut the McCain amendment in conference committee. Although passed 90-9 by the senate, three of the senators who voted for MORE torture, Ted Stevens (AK), Thad Cochran (MS) and Kit Bond (MO) with be on the committee to reconcile the Senate and
House versions of the defense bill.

And Stevens has already declared he will try to EXEMPT the CIA, the primary offender in acts of illegal torture, from being covered by the provision.
