Pelosi Admits She Knew About NSA Collection Program

The National Security Agency's domestic collection activities are classified based on their stati as 'unacknowledged special access programs'. That status requires that the originating authority -- in this case -- the White House -- notify the majority and minority leaders of the House and Senate, as well as the chair and ranking members of the intelligence committee.

So did Nancy Pelosi and Harry Ried know about the program? Pelosi admits she did but says in a statement today that she expressed concern about the program when she was briefed.

We've asked Sen. Reid's office to comment. (The only communication from Reid's office today on the NSA program was the text of Sen. Russ Feingold's blistering response to the president's radio address.)

Pelosi's full statement after the jump.

"We all agree that the President must have the best possible intelligence to protect the American people, but that intelligence must be produced in a manner consistent with the United States Constitution and our laws. The President's statement today raises serious questions as to what the activities were and whether the activities were lawful.

"I was advised of President Bush's decision to provide authority to the National Security Agency to conduct unspecified activities shortly after he made it and have been provided with updates on several occasions.

"The Bush Administration considered these briefings to be notification, not a request for approval. As is my practice whenever I am notified about intelligence activities, I expressed my strong concerns during these briefings."

Why is this system rejecting my messages for "questionable content" when not a single curseword appears in my comment?

Anyone who knew about this, which is in reality against the law and violates civil rights, should step down immediately. Well, immediately after removing the President from office.

you know, rejecting messages with three dots at the end of a sentence is really silly. It's a perfectly valid part of the english language. Make the filter cut off at 4 instead.

Yep. That's YOUR Senate, protecting YOUR Constitution.

Are ALL of these people useless?

Nancy (AIPAC is my Big Daddy) Pelosi put me on some kind of watch list because I called her office from a cell phone that kept cutting out so I had to keep calling to get through.

The question that I was trying to ask was: given that the CA National Guard was in Iraq, and that CA was having swarms of quakes, which some felt were foreshocks, what would happen if California had one of the many Big Ones (earthquakes)?

Now there's a politically charged question, eh?

I got a scary call from something called the "Capitol Police" despite that I was 3000 miles away and don't even have a parking ticket.

Since then I'm on the extra patdown list -- what a joke -- I'm about as law-abiding as an American comes.

Thanks Nance! Words could not begin to express my disgust for her and for the Democratic *leadership* in general.

And you all scoffed at Nadar -- at least he had the cojones to stand up to the powers that be on every issue. Democrats deserve the fact that we are now the USSReal, they have no guts whatsoever.

I have some questionable content concerning Kucinich and his involvement with the NSA right here!
