Coincidence?
John Raese gets in.
Hours later, Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) announces he'll support Judge Sam Alito.
(To be fair, Byrd's the guy who talks about his respect for the Constitution and carries a copy in his pocket. He's probably not one to take his judicial nomination votes lightly.)
Update: Tim Johnson makes it three.

It's a good coincidence for Raese and his chances with fundraisiers, but I think Byrd was going to vote this way anyway. He was a Gang of 14 member and voted for Roberts - the former happened when Capito was mulling the race, the latter when no credible Republican was running.
