The Saturday Brunch
Welcome to another On Call experiment. Most Saturday mornings between now and the election, we'll bring you a buffet of the latest headlines, tell you what's crossing our transom, and end with a helping of the weekend's tastiest buzz. CROSSING OUR TRANSOM
We hear...the White House is psyched about an upcoming OMB report apparently showing a smaller deficit due to higher than expected incoming revenues. Watch for OMB dir. Rob Portman's Tuesday "newsmaker" event at the National Press Club....... that ex-NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani will swing through five states in three days next week: he'll raise money for DeWine in Ohio, Hutchinson in Arkansas, Baar Topinka in IL, Santorum in Pittsburgh, Swann in PA and Ehrlich in MD....that ex-VA Gov Mark Warner has big plans for his two-day IA swing, which begins Tuesday....
CHEW ON THIS....
It's only the New York Times, but if "Economy is slowing" articles start showing up in Dubuque, Phoenix, Topeka and Milwaukee....well, not even a stellar press release can kick out of that box.
A DNA FOIA discovers that Jack Abramoff had a nice meeting with President Bush in the residence of the White House.
