Tele-Town Hall Catching On...
A few months back, we told you about a hot new tool GOP members were using to reach their constituents -- the telephone. We wondered if Rodney Smith and Tele Town Hall, Inc., his company, would continue to impress members enough to convince them to sign up.
Turns out the company is doing just fine, as Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK), an experienced political operative before running on his own, became just the latest member to use the system. He conducted his first tele town hall last night and got at least one clip out of it.
Cole joins Reps. Dan Lungren (R-CA) -- who pioneered the system -- David Dreier (R-CA), John Kline (R-MN) and about 40 others, according to Smith, who says that even more members are on the waiting list. Copy-cat programs, he says, have also sprung up and attracted users from both sides of the aisle. [REID WILSON]

Last week I participated in one such call. It was with Curt Weldon (PA 7) . Curt took questions from a variety of constituants Curt called out my name, I answered and then he called out another.
I had several hardball questions to ask. Curt kept on saying that he would personnally answer any emails from the tele-town hall participants, I sent my questions to him immediately after the call, it has been over 10 days and no response.
Curt also kept telling ushe was an"independent" Republican.
He also spoke of "Able Danger" and made asserations that were really half truths. Ahh Politics!
Yesterday I was contacted by a pollster via telephone, I sensed that the questions were to gauge constiuant support for Weldon.
I wonder where they got my number?

There have been several for Buck McKeon (CA-25) in the last month and a half.
Haven't seen the man himself for a while, but hey, it's something I guess.

They're more than a nuisance because they don't just call homes, they call businesses, we've had 2 of them call and fill up our night voice-mail box, so if we had an IMPORTANT, message from one of our customers or for one of our employees we didn't get it. No matter what TeleTownHall says, their machines have the ability and do circumvent our voicemail system. I called them last year and told them to remove our number which they obviously didn't or we wouldn't have received another call. I'm sure they just delete their messages like I did theirs.
