The Politics Of Torture (cont.)

Sen. Lindsey Graham's (R-SC) outspoken opposition to Pres Bush on the torture issue has elevated what was a low hum to an increasingly noisy buzz about the possibility that the freshman senator will draw a primary opponent in '08. The smart money has for some time been on Treasurer Candidate Thomas Ravenel making the race. Ravenel, a developer, offers a name with deep roots in SC politics and deep pockets to match. But he's recently made noises leading many Palmetto State GOPers to believe he may not be inclined to make the race.

The new name being bandied about now to take on Graham? Ex-House Speaker and current Amb to Canada David Wilkins (R). Wilkins, who like Graham comes from the Upstate, is extremely close to the Bushies, having co-chaired the president's SC campaign in both '00 and '04. He was also a Ranger in '04.

Many in the state have thought that Wilkins would bide his time and run for governor in '10, but conservatives there want even more a reliable supporter of their president in Strom Thurmond's old seat. As one well-connected activist put it," there is no one who stands up for George W. Bush more than David Wilkins does."

Makes perfect GOP sense. A republican that does not support the President's position to torture people not charged with any crime while incarcerated is certainly someone that needs to be drummed out of office by his own party. Ethics, decency, rule of law-good grief where is you loyalty?

Senator Lindsey Graham is to be commended for being one of only 2 or 3 republikans to have a spine strong enough to protect the Constitution instead of shrub. Thank goodness.

But George Bush will only be president for two weeks into the new Senator's term, so there won't be much support to offer, no?

Iraq & Iran:
Get out of Iraq now! Let them have their civil war.
Get our troops home and back to their families.
Let Iran know what the military consequences are if they or their stooges use atomic weapons. Keep in mind however that neither Iran nor Persia has never directly attacked another country, although they did respond to Sadam's attacks on Iran.
Now we need to wait until Bush is gone to have any credibility in the world

Graham will be challenged. He does not take care of South Carolina. He does not represent the public that elected him. Instead he is a yes man and an agenda pusher. An agenda that includes removing healthcare services from many of his constituents that are disable and ill. Do not ask Lindsey for help because he like George, knows best. He is a poor excuse for representing SC and only as of late a voice for anything other than pushing the Rove agenda. Lindsey is WHAT IS WRONG not what is right. But unfortunately in SC, we get alot of what is NOT right courtesy of the good ole boy system. That system leaves out regular people and guess what... WE NOTICE Say bye bye to Lindsey next election. Say bye bye to the RED haze covering this state~

I look forward to seeing the entire US Government, Republican and Democrat being brought to justice for their terror and tyranny.

Ray....they truly believe that anyone who follows the Bush party line without equivocation IS standing up for America. They are one and the same.

So is Graham's opponent going to run on a "pro-torture" platform? Good going South Carolina. Maybe George will let you bring back slavery, too.
