The Audacity of John Edwards

Wisdom before it's conventional holds that Ex-Sen. John Edwards will suffer mightily in the '08 Democratic nomination position jostle once Sen. Barack Obama declares and subsequently sucks all the oxygen out of the room.

Here's how Edwards plans to parry: throw caution to the wind and repeatedly draw media-friendly contrasts.

That's the thought behind his clever "McCain Doctrine" appellation, which refers to the AZ Sen's support for a troop surge in Iraq. It's a catch slogan, and one that his '08 opponents wish they'd thought of. Think Edwards will abdicate the foreign policy discussion to others with, you know, more experience? Think again. Obama endorsed the Baker/Hamilton report. Edwards didn't think the report went far enough.

Speaking of Obama, here's what Edwards said in New Hampshire:

"Identifying the problem and talking about hope is waiting for tomorrow."

Again, the contrast: Edwards is a doer, Obama is a dreamer. Think Edwards will be nice to his opponents? Think again.

Obama right now gets applause because of who he is. Edwards get applause for what he says.

So when is the media gonna showcase the Democratic candidate that gets applause for what he/she's done? I'm getting tired of the three "contenders" echoed about day in day out from the Corporate media and their underlings! Here we are involved in a bloody war that we have basically all but lost, a War on Terror we want to forget about, unrest in most of the rest of the world (cause we've been such great examples) and China and India that are about to push us off the economic stage if we don't start thinking in a new way, and all we Democrats get is a bunch of lightweights known for smiles, hair and husbands.

At some point, something's got to give, or else we'll be looking at another Republican administration. We are not going to "recapture" Camelot folks. We need someone who can roll up their sleeves and not just for another slogan and "photo-op" fest either! Sigh.....

If you compare the record in the senate of Edwards vs Obama I think you would rethink the last remark about Edwards being a doer.

Edwards sole goal from the moment he got elected to the senate was to be president and would do all the shallow things needed. He never took into acct. real work.

Obama on the other hand was focused on legislation and has been very impressive and busy in the senate.
I strongly suggesst you rethink this.
