More YouTube: McCain On Abortion
Some wag wanted to make sure that as we, the media, build Sen. John McCain up, we also tear him down.
In that vein, here's a clip of McCain actually saying what that oppo floating around has him saying. (The video was destined for posting on YouTube, our source insists, but we decided to pre-empt him/her for the traffic.)
Again, it's one thing to read it, it's another thing to see it and hear it.
BTW: Is this the first YouTube war between different candidates' supporters?
MCCAIN:
“But we all know, and it's obvious, that if we repeal Roe v. Wade tomorrow, thousands of young American women would be performing illegal and dangerous operations. I want us to be a party of inclusion. I think that we can all be members of the Republican party whether we are pro-choice or pro-life because we share the same goal and that is the elimination of abortion. Because it is an unpleasant and terrible procedure. We think -- I think that we must go back to the party platform of 1980 and '84. We include people who have specific disagreements who share our same goals.”
Was that all McCain said?
Check out the sentence that's not on the clip.
Full quote: “I am proud of a 17-year voting record of pro-life positions. And I adhere to that position. I believe this issue of the repeal of Roe v. Wade is important. I favor the ultimate repeal of Roe v. Wade. But we all know, and it's obvious, that if we repeal Roe v. Wade tomorrow...."
Which, basically, is the position of Pres. Bush, isn't it?

Preventing abortion has to be done from a practical base, and that means providing alternatives to women who get pregnant that may want to keep their child if there is practical support which allows them to do so. Rather than bombing abortion clinics, pro-lifers could participate in offering alternatives to women who visit them, if they have the resources. And it would take a lot of resources. Serious dog breeders don't sell their puppies to people they don't know, it is unrealistic to expect a woman to give up a child into public care.

Agreed, practical alternatives must be offered.
However your dog breeder comment is misleading. A serious dog breeder would also not have puppies aborted to avoid giving the dog to someone they don't know. This does not mean every effort should not be made to provide better circumstances, but it does not create an excuse for abortion if those better circumstances are not in place.
As you alluded to, a pro-lifer who kills ("bombs abortion clinics") is an obvious hypocrite.

"Unpleasant and terrible procedure!?" How about the greatest act of violence against children in the world!

abortion is murder. It is a women's right to choose, just as it is my choice to kill someone. However, everyone is made in the image of God. Where does the soul begin? After the point dust becomes something else. Even just the word "abortion" when I hear it makes me gag and want to throw up. Certainly a murderer on death row who gets put to death, you can not compair that to an innocent baby who never did anything? You hear about abortion like it is a nice medical procedure, however, some babies have drills put in their skull and some are left on a shelf to squirm and die. How can this go on as business as usual? If you are pro-death, ask yourself honestly, do you really think this is OK? Your conscience is telling you it is wrong. This is not a terrible procedure, it is horrible murder of the worst kind. I am not for bombing or killing anyone, I am for saving innocent unborn babies lives by pointing out it is bloody murder and discusting.
