Shrum: I Was Wrong, And I Can Still Hurt

From the AP: "Adviser Regrets Pushing Edwards on Iraq Sorry Not So Hard for John Edwards"

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards was skeptical about voting for the Iraq war resolution and was pushed into it by advisers looking out for his political future, according to an upcoming book by one of his former consultants.

Democratic strategist Bob Shrum writes in his memoir to be published in June that he regrets advising Edwards to give President Bush the authority to go to war in Iraq. He said if Edwards had followed his instincts instead of the advice of political professionals, he would have been a stronger presidential candidate in 2004.

Um.. this is supposed to be helpful to Edwards?

But, but, I thought he didn't listen to his advisors?

Call it what it is: Political Expediency.

So far, it has been the hallmark of John Edwards unremarkable political career. Serial panderer without any core convictions.

Bob Shrum should not be allowed within 20 miles of a presidential campaign.

Many people used to criticize Edwards for his inexperience. Now when he shows that he's learned from his experience, rather than give him credit for that, some of the same people prefer to go back in time. I see the ability to learn from your mistakes and admit you were wrong as excellent qualities in a leader, and ones that are sorely lacking in the current president.

Edwards decided to vote the way he did after considering everything. No big deal there. Edwards has guts to admit his mistakes unlike many ignorant stubborns like Cheney, Bush.

Rob, conservatives do not have ability to learn from their mistakes. Just look at the war escalation. They are sending more troops to the meat-grinder. This is not called convictions but its called stupidity and lack of judgement. No wonder there is still that Hannity gang who still believe that Saddam had active WMDs.. LOL.
