The Week Goes To McCain?
First, K-Lo said it on Wednesday:
But look what happened:
1. The 5 year anniversary of McCain-Feingold. OUCH.
2. That old canard: McCain allegedly thought about switching parties. OUCH (Most conservative bloggers are DEFENDING him).
3. McCain skips -- and is slammed at -- the Club for Growth meeting. OUCH
And he still had a good media week. Especially online. That's pretty remarkable.

Are you kidding me?? In addition to three points you mentioned McCain was not able to tell the truth when he was asked about conditions in Iraq and you are handing him the week? Its laughable.
By the way, according to the Hill story McCain did consider switching parties. Read it cmpletely since it states how McCain talked to Daschle, Edwards, Kennedy, etc. So its not just a canard.
Why is Hotline not reporting about how the Double Talk Express McCain is living in a NeverNeverland. McCain lied when he claimed on CNN and other radio show that there are several neighborhoods in Baghdad outside of the Green Zone that are totally safe for an American to travel alone without any security. He also claimed that Petraeus travels in an unarmed vehicle in Baghdad. Then CNN's Baghdad correspondent, Michael Ware, talked about how ludicrous McCain's claim is and pretty much said that McCain has no credibility on this one. Here is exactly what Ware said..
"I mean, Senator McCain's credibility now on Iraq, which has been so solid to this point, has now been left out hanging to dry. To suggest that there's any neighborhood in this city where an American can walk freely is beyond ludicrous. I'd love Senator McCain to tell me where that neighborhood is and he and I can go for a stroll. And to think that General David Petraeus travels this city in an unarmed Humvee? I mean, in the hour since Senator McCain has said this, I've spoken to some military sources and there was laughter down the line. I mean, certainly, the general travels in a Humvee. There are multiple Humvees around it, heavily armed. There are attack helicopters, Predator drones, sniper teams, all sorts of layers of protection."

Matthew, why you would ever expect these folks to be honest about any Republican (leave alone McCain) is beyond me - they have been doing this for years now !!
What surprises me is why Wolf Blitzer and then John Roberts both of CNN decided to question McCain about this ludicrous claims so aggresively: maybe they thought that it looked a little wierd that McCain kept saying that that you and I could walk on the streets of Baghdad while at the same time there were bombs killing hundreds of people in and around Baghdad.

how many more "good weeks" like this can McCain survive?

Seems like some Democrats are afraid that the surge might actually work and making McCain unbeatable in the general? Or maybe they are scared that the new Time poll (despite a current anti-GOP poll) has McCain and Rudy beating both Obama and Clinton?
Which is it?
