The Republicans Love Their Federalism Excuse, Don't They?

Now Mitt Romney refuses to weigh in on South Carolina's fetal ultrasound legislation.

''I would like to see each state be able to make its own law with regard to abortion. I think the Roe v. Wade one-size-fits-all approach is wrong.''

But governor: is it a good idea? A bad idea?

Isn't the substance of his statement that he thinks its a good idea for South Carolina, but a possibly a bad idea in other states?

What he would do if he were tsar is a question that every politician who made it past student council knows not to answer.

Now the king of of flip-floppers refuses to take a stance. Probably he has fulfilled the flip-flop quota for this week and hence does not want to take a stance.

This is getting silly. Presidential candidates have to have an opinion on the Kansas-Nebraska Act AND fetal ultrasound legislation? What's next: Asking Romney whether he supports Washington State's designation of the Walla Walla sweet onion as the official state vegetable?
