McCain Loses South Carolina Political Director

Brad Henry, the political director for Sen. John McCain in South Carolina, has left the campaign.

We're told that Henry has returned to the fold of his former boss, AG Henry McMaster, and will serve as campaign manager and finance director for the AG's re-election. He'll also continue to advise the McCain team. McMaster endorsed McCain late last fall.

Not sure what to make of this -- just last week, senior McCain aides in DC were raving about Henry.

The well-regarded Trey Walker remains McCain's SC state director.

Lets face it, McMaster has enough brains to run out of a burning hourse.

McCain's embrace of the Kennedy amnesty bill coupled with his use of language which I cannot repeat here to criticize those who oppose of amnesdty has doomed his campaign.

McCain is a shrinking ship. It is obvious. He started out as the front runner and he is now probably #3. His support comes from name recognition, not from a core group of people who agree with his policies or admire his leadership skills. McCain pales in comparision to Romney or Juliani. Both of them have successfully run large organizations. McCain is simply a senator with a history of taking sides with Democrats from time to time. And, obviously he is a war veteran--which is commendable. Having said that, there is nothing about McCain which says "we need this man as our president", while I'd consider it a big improvement to have Romney or Juliani (or Tommy Thompson or Mike Huckabee) as president.

McMaster made a good move.

McCain's campaign is failing. There will be no reward for hanging around.

John McCain is a war hero but he has lost his way and his campaign is faltering badly. It won't be his stand on the war that puts him under but rather his support for the amnesty immigration bill. Immigratin is a "gut" issue since virtually everyone would be impacted by sanctioning 12 million new minority workers who are uneducated, preciely when our services economy needs talented, educated workers to remain compeitive. McCain's quest for the white house is over.

No surprise. When you joist with other candidates who are champion flip floppers with golden throats, how can an old man with cantankerous positions keep up....hardly

John McCain's liberal leanings and his rants of rage in public already had his candidacy on the ropes. But, now that he has teamed up with Ted Kennedy on this Illegal Immigration Amnesty Bill, turn out the lights; the party's over.
