Quote Of The Day
From today's Hotline:
"To me it's good natured ribbing."

More like racist. Calling him Piyush reinforces every stereotype about Asians with a not so tolerant Louisiana electorate. This is a state that almost elected David Duke governor.

I am aware of races where campaigns will use an opponents middle name, for example, if they know he or she doesn't like it, as a form of "good natured ribbing." However, I view this differently and am frankly disappointed that I have not seen more media outlets comment on this situation in Louisiana. It is well-known that Jindal underperformed in the rural parts of the state in 2003, which many have contributed to some degree of bias against his ethnicity. It is hard to see how this is not an effort to stoke those feelings in a (not so) subtle manner. Furthermore, I have always respected Mary Landrieu and regret that someone associated with her has gone along with this unfortunate strategy.

Its fun to watch Dems using republicans dirty trick tactics on republicans.

It's not good natured; it is, however, the dude's first name not his middle name, so it's hard to say it can't be discussed in the campaign. Anyway, the guy will be the next Governor of Louisiana, despite the racist past of much of the state.
As someone once said, if his name was Bubba Jindeaux instead of Piyush "Bobby" Jindal, he would have been elected governor in 2003.
Blanco won counties in 2003 that David Duke won against Edwin Edwards. Hard to explain that as anything other than a strong racist vote.

I am a big Jindal supporter. However the myth that Bobby lost because of his ethnicity is just that a myth. I have gone through the stats parish by parish and can only find one where Bobby underperformed.
