Romney's Rising In New Hampshire, Says Zogby, And In Iowa, Say Two Polls
BTW: The Romney campaign estimates it signed up well over 24,000 new supporters over the past few hours. The final tallies will be released later.
Now: a new Iowa poll out from rom KCCI/Research 2000:
McCain 18% Giuliani 17% Romney 16% (Fred Thompson had 9% and Newt Gingrich had 6%, the rest were at 3% or less)The same poll taken in December showed:
Giuliani 27% McCain 26% Romney 9%
And here's a paragraph from a Zogby release on its IA/NH polling.
Republican Mitt Romney has made an explosive leap ahead of his competitors in the first primary state of New Hampshire, jumping up to 35% support from 25% just a month ago, and leaving other top competitors John McCain, the senator from Arizona, and former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani, in the dust, a new Zogby International telephone poll shows. The telephone survey shows Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York holds a small lead over Barack Obama of Illinois, with former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards trailing behind—even as New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson has seen his support jump to 10%.
The poll, conducted May 15 and 16, 2007, included 500 likely New Hampshire Republican primary voters and 503 likely New Hampshire Democratic primary voters. The margin of error for each survey is +/- 4.5 percentage points.
Romney, who also shows a small lead in Zogby International’s latest poll in Iowa, leads the GOP field in New Hampshire with 35%, and distances himself from McCain and Giuliani who are tied at 19% support. While Romney has surged ahead 10 points since Zogby’s April poll in New Hampshire, McCain has seen his support decrease from 25%, and Giuliani holds steady at 19%—the same level of support he received in last month’s poll.

For all his $350 millions this multiple-choice Mitt will just remain a well groomed, gel haired empty suite who wants to double the size of Gitmo. His flip-flops are so widespread and desparate that they will be impossible to change his image. His flipflops and youtube videos will destroy him in general election against any dem.

I think a lot of people still don't know who Mitt is. In Iowa and NH we're seeing a microcosm of what happens when people get a chance to meet him and see him. His numbers are soaring!

Go ROMNEY!!!!

Either I don't see the flip flops after reading the blogs and watching the videos, or I just don't find the shift a problem. Most issues are not black and white - so it is easy for snipers to typecast a candidate.
I think that Romney is exactly what wee need in Washington - an intelligent, competent leader who knows how to fix difficult problems in large organizations.

How can anyone take you seriously if you call someone with the accomplishments of Romney an empty suit ... ?

The only way to truly improve is to learn from experience, and that may mean changing stances on certain issues. I wouldn't call a decision to change to a pro-life stance after previously losing a sister in law due to an illegal abortion a 'desperate and impossible way to change his image.' Everyone has changed their mind on a certain issue, Presidents have done that as well, including our beloved Ronald Reagan. Romney will win the nomination if he keeps up his work in New Hampshire, Iowa, and South Carolina. If he wins these states of the first three GOP caucuses, he will gain enough momentum to win the nomination, despite polls that favor Giuliani and McCain presently. And there is no doubt that Romney has the money, the charisma, and the record to slaughter any one of the Democratic nominees for President in 2008. It's going to be Mitt Romney in the White House.

Very good comment, Joel cannon!
I'm afraid flip-flopping isn't so bad any more. What's wrong with changing ones mind when new information is available?
Romney looks great in his "suite", Mitty Motty!
Guess it would be helpful if you could spell correctly, Mitty!
Objective analysis of the numbers for Romney shows he is absolutely unstoppable unless something very unusual happens!
He is the man with all the stuff it will take.
And there's nothing wrong with that!

Mormon or not, he is doing just about everything right, at least for now!
All comments appreciated! Google didn't know what the Zogby poll IS!
Great job!
