Hotline After Dark -- No License To Drive

Rudy Giuliani spoke with CNBC's Kudlow:

On Biden's attack at him at the Dem debate: "The president of the United States is a tough job, everybody knows that. It's not a place for on the job experience and Joe was over-reacting to that because he fits into that category of no executive experience. We very much respect his career in the Senate. ... But when you're in the Senate, there's no accountability. You can pass a bill, if it bankrupts an agency, you're not responsible for it. When you're mayor of America's largest city, you have to run the 17th largest economy in the world, you have to deal with the security of 8 million people, you learn how to be accountable."

More: "I think they're concerned with me because they understand something, I can beat them. ... It's more than a national poll, it's I can run competitively in states our party has not been competitive in for 16 to 20 years and they're afraid of that. So I think you're going to see them step up the pressure on me because I'm the last one they want to see as the Republican nominee. And hey, I'm proud of that because I think I'm getting through to them."

Asked about giving illegal immigrants a drivers' license: "Can't do that ... because of the ability to use it as a fraudulent document. ... It would confuse the heck out of the TSA. All of the sudden, we're going to have illegals appearing to be legal. It will be confusing for employers. Now, all of the sudden, they're going to have a valid document. I'm trying to find a nice way to describe how wrong it is. It is a terrible mistake and I think Hillary did one of the more astounding things I've ever seen in a presidential debates on both sides of it" ("Kudlow & Company," CNBC, 11/1).

NOT IN FULL BLOOM

NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg was in the "Situation Room" 11/1:

Asked if illegal immigrants should have NY drivers' licenses: "I do not believe they should. I think and I've expressed to the governor an objection that I've had to do it and my police commissioner has had to this for a long time and I've been asked this question. The governor's first proposal, I thought, was inappropriate. And should not have been enacted. And I told him so privately which is the way I should deal with him"

CNN's Blitzer: "Can you rule out, I just have to ask you one final political question, rule out the possibility you would run as an independent presidential candidate?"

Bloomberg: "Is this the shermanesque question?"

Blitzer: "Yes."

Bloomberg: "Let me tell you something. You are asking the wrong question. What you have to ask is why can't we get the candidates that are running, and there's plenty of declared candidates both Democrat and Republican, why can't they stop this partisan bickering in Washington? Why can't they address the issues?"

Blitzer: "I'm not hearing a shermanesque answer."

Bloomberg: "Well because you are asking a person who's not candidate. I have 791 days left to go in my job and I plan to finish that" (CNN, 11/1).

HERE'S TO HILLARY

And on "Hardball" last night Chris Matthews offered his advice to Hillary Clinton:

Matthews: "Earlier this week, I wrote what I thought Senator Barack Obama should have said in the debate. I did the same on Tuesday for Senator Joe Biden. Now, tonight, in the aftermath of the debate and all this controversy, I offer this draft for the consideration of Hillary Clinton."

More: "Quote, 'Taking the heat is what leadership is all about. As Harry Truman said, if you don't like the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Taking heat is all part of the process of proving yourself for the world's most important Democratic office. The fact that I am the first woman has nothing to do with the heat on me in this week's presidential debate. I was the target because, quite simply, I am running well in the national polls. ... So let's move on. There'll be more debates. There'll be more shots from my opponents. There may be a few from me at them at them. But those were the rules we agreed on, not in Philadelphia this week, but in Philadelphia back when we declared independence. Besides, a little trouble I don't mind. If I get to be the first woman elected to lead this country, I don't want it said it was because my rivals went soft on me or I on them'" (MSNBC, 11/1). [EMILY GOODIN]

Rudy was a failure as a mayor till 9/11. Rudy was the one who put the emergency response center in WTC, he was the one who was fired from 9/11 commission because he missed all the meetings. Rudy has absolutely no leadership qualities, he is a a authoratarian.
