Concord Monitor For HRC
The Concord Monitor teased its Sunday endorsement of Hillary Clinton today, citing her "smarts, experience and toughness" as reasons, among others, for the pick.
Here is the link to the Primary Monitor blog, and an excerpt from the editorial:
Clinton's ambitious to-do list for her first few weeks in office gives us confidence that her priorities are right and that she would act swiftly to make a positive difference. She is the Monitor's choice in the Jan. 8 Democratic primary.
New Hampshire Democrats and independents are blessed with a strong field of presidential candidates at a time when a change of course is desperately needed. We have been impressed by Joe Biden's pragmatic foreign policy and by John Edwards's insistence that we pay attention to the poorest Americans.
Barack Obama, more than most, has the power to inspire. The positive tone of his campaign is not a gimmick. He is a serious candidate with sober ideas. For reasons symbolic and substantive, he would also be a nominee Democrats could feel proud to vote for.
But Hillary Clinton's unique combination of smarts, experience and toughness makes her the best choice to win the November election and truly get things done.

Why is Clinton the best choice to win the general election when according to the poll averages she spots all of the republicans ~5 points relative to both Obama and Edwards? Hello, wake up Concord Monitor, get a clue.

It's amazing isn't it? Clinton has the highest negative ratings. She has an uncanny unique ability to unite 45% of the country against her. She has only a term and a half of actual leadership experience, and has been chairman of nothing. There is no proof she will be able to get bi-partisan support for anything she proposes. In a general, who would America pick as a wartime president?---Hilary Clinton vs. John McCain would be over before it began. There are people with real experience in this race. Think before you vote.

Hello, editor emeritus Mike Pride? Editor Felice Belman? Remember how well your call in favor of the establishment "safe" choice went in 2004?
How you all went into Monitor editorial meeting figuring you'd endorse someone else, and wound up thinking, "You know, maybe we've been overestimating the importance of character and conviction and the whole "standing up for what's right" thing and underestimating this Kerry guy's deft touch and appeal to the common man," and endorsing John F. "Stick-up-the-Wazoo" Kerry?
Remember that? Remember what a swell idea that turned out to be?
Why in the hell did you choose to replicate the exact same moronic blunder four years later?
You've been justly disgusted by the George W. Bush administration for the last seven years. Does it not trouble you that you share with him the trait of being appallingly oblivious to the lessons of history?
