Libs For McCain
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Despite urging from some activists like Markos Moulitsas that Michigan Democrats vote for Mitt Romney over John McCain, CNN exit polling indicates the Arizona Republican won the liberal vote.
McCain captured 41 percent of Democrats who voted in the Republican primary, 10 points more than Romney. Mike Huckabee meanwhile, only captured 14 percent of Democrats.
Though the Democratic primary race was rendered essentially meaningless after party sanctions, few Democrats decided to vote in the Republican primary — according to the exit polling, Democrats only constituted 7 percent of the vote in that contest.

How do you know that liberal votes went for McCain? There are still several moderate and, dare I say, conservative Democrats, such as Joe Lieberman and Zell Miller. Remember that Reagan won over a majority of Democratic voters. I'm guessing that most liberal votes went to Hillary or "uncommitted" and not McCain.

Polls depend on people answering truthfully. What's in it for the Kos Kidz to do that? (Or anyone, for that matter?) In other words, who really knows?

This topic proves the danger of open primaries. Efforts by MoveOniacs to sabotage the Repub presidential selection process in Michigan, along with the probable movement of independent Obama supporters to the "more competitive" Repub primary in NH to help McCain, show the wisdom of those states that only allow those people who demonstrate an affinity to the values of a party, by enrolling in that party long before primary elections, to vote in their
primaries.

I agree with JoJoDog. Michigan is probably loaded with old line Democrats-you know, the kind who actually cared for this country. It is a shame that Michigan voters fell for flip-flop Mitt's pandering, but I realize he is a favorite son. I am well aware of conservative misgivings about John McCain, but I feel that Nat'l Security is the defining issue of our times, and it is a little known fact that McCain has been quite reliably conservative over his career. I hope he is our next Commander-in-Chief.

I agree that national security is the defining issue of our time, and since illegals have killed 5 times as many Americans as were killed on 9/11 since then, I say that eliminates John McCain as a viable candidate, not to mention the money and jobs they are sucking out of our country. That money could be used for national defense.
