Chelsea "Bristles" At Lewinsky Q
At Butler University yesterday, Chelsea Clinton was asked if her mother's rep had suffered as a result of the Monica Lewinsky scandal. She said she'd never gotten the question before, in her 70-something visits to college campuses. Listen to her full response. Tough.Cookie.

there was no "bristle." She slapped the kid around and in a perfect manner. For all the hate the Clintons have generated, no one can say they are not great parents and have raised a fantastic daughter

"Bristle" is a word journalists use when they smell blood. The press is picking the flesh off of Chelsea's mom's bones for fun and profit! Hillary is toast....the media has decided it.
The real issue is that the dems once again put up the two worst candidates in the field. If this race were Edwards v. Dodd or Biden v. Richardson, do you think we'd be talking about whackadoodle preachers and horny interns?
It's almost certain McCain will win. But since HRC cannot get the nomination, she needs to get out...if only to limit the damage this silliness is creating down the ticket.

I'm all for leaving the families of the candidates alone as long as they act in a manner consistent with the desire to be left alone, e.g., not going to over "70 college campuses" to campaign for their family member. The question was tough and may have been unfair, but don't put yourself out there if you don't want to field tough questions.

WLS AM in Chicago interviewed a reporter this morning that was there and said the question was "Do you think your mom handled the situation with Monica the right way?" The reporter on WLS said the AP reporter was father away than he was and the questioner was not miked. So the question as it appears in the AP reporting is dubious at best.

what I don't understand is what about Monica. This family destroyed that young lady's reputation, yet she was the 22 year old and he was the president. Hillary beat her over the head, accusing her of being a harlet. they ran her through the mud. She was stupid and young. he was horny and the leader of the free world. And while Chelsea seems like a fine young lady, I don't think anyone should forget Monica was a young lady too. this family went after her, and any surrogate or even the first lady should be held accountable for how this family and those politcaly close to the clintons demonized her.
Monica is somebodies daughter too.

What exactly is it that Chelsea Clinton thinks is none of our business? If she had been asked a personal question about how the Lewinsky scandal affected her family or her relationships with her parents, she's right. But the question (if reported accurately) was whether her mother had suffered a loss of credibility as a result of the Lewinsky scandal. That's not a private inquiry; it's about her mother's public reputation. And that's our business, too, because her mother is asking to be president of the United States. Chelsea is a very impressive person, but it's not realistic to think that she will never be asked on the record about a scandal that destroyed most of her father's second term as president. And she has no reason to be shocked when she is, and no basis for insulting the questioner.
