OH Super D For Obama
Ohio superdelegate Enid Goubeaux, a Democratic National Committee member, endorsed Barack Obama today.
“I am endorsing Sen. Obama because his message, ‘yes we can’ has inspired so many voters, especially younger voters, to take part in shaping our country's future," she said in a statement released by the campaign. “I believe that Sen. Obama will end politics as usual which divides the nation and prevents us from confronting our most serious problems.”

More empty rhetoric about hope and change from a super-d. Its mind boggling to think that this endorsement is seen as some huge positive for the campaign.
Yet unreported by Hotline and others is the Pittsburgh Tribune endorsement of Hillary, which was notable for a couple of reasons. First Richard Mellon Scaife, who owns the Tribune, had made targeting both Clintons an obsession he was more than happy to fund.
Second, not only did the paper endorse Hillary, but the endorsement included exact examples and facts supporting the endorsement, which you never ever see in any endorsement of Barack Obama.
And they also call out their fellow newspaper colleagues and reporters for their hollow rhetoric and projecting the same:
Those who have endorsed Obama have rhetorically swooned, too, designating him the future of American politics, while denigrating Clinton as a relic of politics past. How ironic, since Obama owes no small part of his success to the grooming and support of Chicago's old-line Daley political machine.
The paper noted its endorsement was in part motivated by her "political courage" in sitting down and talking with the editorial board. Courage that Obama, they noted, has yet to demonstrate.

Corinne - I think this isn't being portrayed as huge news, but it is important because it is another superdelegate (and if I understand correctly, the Pittsburgh Tribune is not). Also: how long ago did the Pittsburgh Tribune endorse Hillary? Do you really think it's *that* huge of news? That a long-time contributor to the right-wing slime machine endorsed Hillary is news that we should all be talking about? I'm trying to bear with you, but you're not making it easy.

I came over from TPM and saw the silly comment posted by corinne. If anything an endorsement by such a virulent anti-progressive as Mellon Scaife just reinforces the opinion of many of us Obama supporters that the right wing is very scared of him. Hillary will be much easier for them to tear down. She has provided them with so much new ammunition. She makes a big deal out of the Weather Underground and her husband PARDONED these people. This is easy to damage her on so many levels. Barack 08 to put the Mellon Scaifes in their place!

Corrine - Other than her home state NY Times, Hillary's newspaper endorsements nationally, and especially in Pennsylvania, are few and mostly second tier or lower publications like the Pittsburgh Tribune. As to detail, the editorial endorsements and the voters Obama attracts are demonstrably more informed than Clinton's, though she no doubt would label them elitist. The Trib endorsement is an embarrassment that highlights this fact.
