Quote Of The Day
From today's Hotline:
"They're going to raise your taxes by thousands of dollars per year, and they have the audacity to hope you don't mind."

Go away, old man.

There is only an imperceptible idealogical difference between the two Socialists still running for the Dem nomination.
The real difference lies in just how smoothly and charismaticly they sell their snake oil to the "little guy"--while accepting big money from big oil, big pharma, big labor, trial lawyers, Hollywood, Soros, etc. Obama has the real advantage there.

McCain has it wrong on this issue........ The Dems don't consider individuals having any money. Any money that is made, belongs to the State. Whatever money the State leaves you after taxes, be greatful to the State. It's not your money folks, it's the Governments! According the Dems, we are just too stupid to know how to spend our income. Uncle Sam knows best. NANNY STATE folks. Big entitlements with strings attached. Dems know best how to raise your kids, what schools you can go to, what job you can get, basically your whole life can be controlled by big government. Heck...they'll even tell you how to think and what is appropiate or not. P.C. baby...get in lock-step or get run over!

"Go away, old man."
Brilliantly incisive riposte.
Bravo.

Jack Mac tells it like it is.
Andrew | 04.15.08 01:32 PM
John Mac is an idiot and still using that outdated Karl Rove playbook trying to scare people ("More Taxes!""BROWN PEOPLE""TERRURRRISTS!") into voting for the R's. It worked REAL well in '06 and '08 will be a repeat of '06 except that this time, the Dems will attain the trifecta (Senate, House & White House). Competent government will once again be a reality. Republicans will continue to dwindle in #'s. Rush's, Sean's & Orally's heads will explode daily.

Shaun | 04.15.08 01:37 PM
Care to cite an example of McCain scaring folks about "BROWN PEOPLE"?
Clark | 04.15.08 01:55 PM
Just how is it that "go away, old man," is okay, but "go away, black man, or "go away. you woman," is verboten? There's, so far, a lot of ageism that seems to sail under the radar. As a person of age, I'm offended.
marybel | 04.15.08 01:57 PM
Competent government will once again be a reality.
Under Democrats?
Dude.
Open the windows when you cook your meth. These people couldn't competently run a bath if you spotted them the water and the tub.
Which is not to say that the Republicans are any better, just that you're delusional about Democrats' bureaucratic and managerial skills.
BC | 04.15.08 02:00 PM
My impression of Shaun, responding to Clark's question:
"Well, I, uh, that is, uhhhhh....you're a Fascist, Clark!"
Wasn't McCain a major force behind Shamnesty some months back? You know, something that would help a lot of non-white folks in this country?
Mohammed the Teddy-Bear | 04.15.08 02:02 PM
It is very telling that this crusty, old-fashioned man would have supporters who are racist and bigoted, such as the above commenter.
Jim | 04.15.08 04:20 PM
Just think how much good they will do with
this new-found wealth....I'm dreaming of
all the possibilties...and smiling. For the
first time I will be proud of America, just
like Michelle.

Just sad. And comments on here like carl. Just sad.
I don't understand how these GOP politicians can trick people in this country into voting against their own interests. Like 'make the Bush tax cuts permanent'. Those tax cuts PROVABLY favored the top 2% in this country. It is mathematically proven to favor the rich. That's not a Liberal point of view, that is ECONOMICS. The funny thing is that those tax cuts help people in NYC and SF and Chicago cities far more than in blue-collar red-state America. But the GOP politicians convince people in rural red states and middle America to vote for the tax cuts anyway even though they barely receive crumbs while the rich get richer and richer!
At some point you just have to wonder why these Republican voters would want this to continue. How could you possibly even consider having John McCain -- who admitted he doesn't know much about economic policy -- CONTINUE the Bush policies? They have brought us into a recession. Housing crisis. Oil prices. Food prices. Oh yeah a $3 Trillion War. A $9 Trillion DEBT. Can't you see this? It is SO bad for our country. How could you possibly want this to continue? I don't get it.
Ethan | 04.16.08 12:28 AM
Republican base usually responds to "wedge" issues like god guns gays Mexicans.
Blinds them to the fact that they are voting against their own economic and social self interest.
