Where'd he get this list?
The late DC Madam's little black book?
I bet every lawyer on there is Federalist Society...

Wow, you couldn't fill a slate with more ultra-fringe-right unhinged whackos if you tried. Hillary and Obama voters who are claiming that they're going to bolt to McCain if they don't get their way ought to take a long, hard look at this list.

No Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Arlen Specter, huh?
sjc | 05.06.08 03:52 PM
Ah yes, "McCain the Maverick" packs his Judiciary Committee with the same old classic neo-con Federalist Society hacks, including Arkansas Project maven Ted Olson and far-right wacko Sam Brownback as his co-chairs...
In other words, Bush III.

Looks like a whos who of the Bush administration and the far-right-wing. McCain has left no surprises. Thanks for letting us know who and what you really stand for early in the game.

It's deja vu all over again. A third Bush term. Just what the country needs, with the same recycled, right-wing hack ideologues running the show.

A cast of tort deformers and Bushies. What lawyer would believe that this cast of characters would do anything to preserve their clients' rights or do anything to protect indivduals as opposed to corporations, let alone the bill of rights. I thank McCain for the great laugh he brought me today.

If McCain gets elected (what a nightmare) hopefully Ginsberg and Stevens will outlive him and remain on the court. Scalia, Alito, Roberts and Thomas are going to be around for a long time unfortunately.

Hmm,
Marc L. Mukasey -- Partner, Bracewell & Giuliani LLP ; former assistant U.S. attorney for the So. District of NY
What, no Alberto Gonzales' children on the list?

Um, calling Orin Kerr "far right wing" is nutty stuff. He's a professor, his work is everywhere (blogs, as well as articles), he's been quite critical of many positions taken by the current administration. Easy to see he's a moderate. Eugene Volokh, another professor, is certainly libertarian, but hardly right wing -- he's a leading proponent of various civil rights that most people (fairly or not) associate with the liberal side of the aisle. And even Rachel Brand and Miguel Estrada, despite having been nominated respectively to AAG of the Office of Legal Policy and the DC Circuit by Bush 43, are at most moderate republicans. Estrada was filibustered by Dems only because he is a Hispanic whom they feared as a potential Supreme Court nominee, and they knew they'd have trouble blocking him later -- they didn't identify any position of his that they opposed. And last I checked, Miguel was representing a death row inmate ... doesn't sound like "far right" as I understand that term.

Indeed, it is quite exciting to see Profs. Kerr and Volokh on this list!

At least it has two people to do the real thinking for the group - Stephen Smith at UVA and Nicholas Rosenkranz at Georgetown Law Center

When is someone going to open their eyes and see... This whole Federal Prison is a mess. Just STOP and do the right thing, "Federal Parole." The judge says, do you put yourself on the mercy of this court? Where is the mercy??????
