Splittin' The Baby

The Michigan Dem Party released a statement this a.m. announcing that it overwhelmingly approved a proposal yesterday to allocate the state's delegates, 69 for Hillary Clinton and 59 for Barack Obama.

The Delegate Working Group -- Sen. Carl Levin, Rep. Carolyn Cheeks-Kilpatrick, Debbie Dingell and Ron Gettelfinger -- signed off. The group believes the solution "splits the difference between the January 15th results supported by the Clinton Campaign, which would create a delegates allocation of 73-55, and the 50-50 split supported by the Obama campaign, which would create a 64-64 allocation of the delegates."

MI Party Chair Mark Brewer: "This resolution meets the main criteria that we set forth for a resolution. It is a negotiated solution that recognizes the results of the January 15th primary while taking into consideration that Obama's name was not on the ballot. This proposal seats a full Michigan delegation and gives all delegates the same voting power. This is a good step toward a solution that unites Democrats and ensures that our state will not face a McCain presidency and four more years of the failed Bush trade and economic policies that have devastated our state."

The proposal will be filed as a formal appeal to the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee. No comment yet from the DNC.

To an ordinary person this does not seem rational. Michigan delegates should be permitted to attend, but not to vote. Howard Dean has set out all the reasons why anything else is silly and disrespectful.

Okay as far as it goes but there has to be a penalty for moving their primary up against national rules. This division is fine but it then needs to be halved according to party rules. Supers would be seated with full votes.

I'm sorry, but I fail to see why Hillary Clinton is being rewarded for being the only candidate who refused to remove their name from the ballot. She now she stands to gain ten delegates by refusing to play by the rules. Split the delegates evenly, or don't let them vote at all.

I hope the DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee rejects this proposal. Hillary should be awarded the delegates she earned by winning 55% of the vote.

I am from The great state of Fl. THe state that votes and then the dem committee gives the votes to the other opponent, I think Clinton should get all the votes she won in Migch, and Fl. Odama gets the ones he won in FL. and all the other ones in Migch.that didn"t vote for Clinton . You know we the people of these states nor did Clinton have any thing to do with this mess. Why should you feel it is right to punish us the innocent. mmtompkins@earthlink.com Myrtice Tompkins.

Clinton takes Indiana by a ‘razor’ and Obama wins North Carolina by a huge margin. Nevertheless, Kentucky, Montana and West Virginia are still to come.

The Democratic race for nomination is still very much alive – and most likely to be decided by superdelegates

If you’re tired of waiting around for those super delegates to make a decision already, go to LobbyDelegates.com and push them to support Clinton or Obama

If you haven't done so yet, please write a message to each of your state's superdelegates at http://www.lobbydelegates.com

Obama Supporters:

Sending a note to current Obama supporters lets them know it's appreciated, sending a note to current Clinton supporters can hopefully sway them to change their vote to Obama, and sending a note to the uncommitted folks will hopefully sway them to vote for Obama. It's that easy...

Clinton Supporters too …. !

It takes a moment, but what's a few minutes now worth to get Clinton in office?! Those are really worth !
