Barack Obama has agreed to help Hillary Clinton pay off at least $10M of her debt, according to the AP.
From NBC/NJ's Mike Memoli, here's the Clinton camp's statement of 'thanks': "Senator Clinton appreciates Senator Obama's generous efforts and is continuing her efforts to raise the monies he needs to ensure a victory in November."

I think it is disgusting that Obama wants donors to pay off Clinton's debts. I have contributed twice to the Obama campaign and will vote for him, but won't contribute any more of my money.
The Clintons ran a race, funded it and lost. They can absorb the debt without a hint of difference in their lifestyle. If those are the rules, I have invested in stocks which are down; anyone who wants to contribute to my losses can reach me through my email address. I am very disappointed! This is the politics of old!

I could not agree more, Obama needs the funding for his campaign, not to pay off the debt of the poorly managed and doomed opposition. His supporters have been MORE than generous already, why mess with a good thing? He's going to need the continued support, this stunt is going to cull the herd of his benefactors.

It looks as if the Clintons want Obama to pay for their support. Shame on the Clintons for putting Obama in a no-win PR situation. If he didn't pay, the Clinton supporters would go nuts and claim Obama was not interested in helping the party come together. But urging his supporters to pay off the Clinton debt sends a message that he is not above paying special interests (like he Clintons) for their support.
The Clintons couldn't be worse losers. They're damaging the party and damaging democracy. Again, shame on them.

The Clinton's have money why should the public pay off their debts. They earned over $110 MM in the past few years they can surely addfor this. If you choose to run for office, that comes with a price tag and you have to pay that.
Shame on the Clinton's always want others to pay for them.

well, I guess Hillary's support came with a price tag. How can Obama be the champion of change if he needs the Clintons so much? Insider agreements, resorting to politics of the past, I don't see the change.

If 95% of the white people voted for Hilary,
Sharpton would lead a march.95% African American
vote for Obama thats fine.Wake up people!

Give me a break! Is Obama's campaign and extended fight with Clinton paid for already? Her pride would not allow her to concede and now she wants help paying the cost! When will America see these people as they really are - dishonest con men. Obama is indeed buying her support. Frankly, I want her and her hubby to just go away!

Hillary Clinton should pay her own bills, that debt would not exist if she had paid attention to the pools and dropped out in March. She'd been loosing to Obama from the beginning and it was her big ego (and bill's) that kept her in the race. It's her debt, she and Bill should pay it off themselves, personally, write another book or something.

Ok, if Hillary obtained $22 million in debt just for her campaign, imagine what she could do in 4 years if she has been elected?

I couldn't agree more. Clinton is my Senator, I wish they'd go home to Arkansas. I'm afraid Obama may lose fundraising support and momentum if the Clinton's sleazy blackmailing tactics work. They are repulsively wealthy and egotistical. they should DEFINITELY eat this debt.No one asked them to incur it.

Has anybody actully investigated the origin of Obama's hundreds of millions of dollars? We are told that it's coming from individual's small donations via the internet, but how do we know it's not origianally coming from radical sources, or even from overseas interests?

No way should any of us pay off Hillary's debt. She stayed in the primary race long after there was any chance of her winning and racked up millions more in debt. She shows she is fiscally irresponsible and has poor judgement. I'm not bailing her out. Let her 18 million supporters bail her out.
