I Won't Be Ignored, Democrats

Val Kilmer, Sean Penn, Cindy Sheehan, Tom Morello, Jello Biafra, Nellie McKay, and Ike Reilly will all appear at the Ralph Nader/Matt Gonzalez "Open the Debates" Super Rally next week in Denver. The event is scheduled for 8/27 at 6 p.m. at the University of Denver Magness Arena.

Penn’s not showing up to make the pitch for Nader – he has bigger fish to fry.

“I met with Sean and we talked at length," Nader said in a campaign release. "He was very clear that he is not currently planning to endorse any candidate in the general election, but that he has serious concerns about the state of the presidential debates."

The Commission on Presidential Debates has said that for a candidate to participate he must reach ballot access requirements and reach 15% in at least five national polls.

Is it that time again? Time for Ralph Nader's quadrannial whine festival, where he does more complaining about the alleged unfairness of the two party system than he does actual campaigning.
Instead of crying that the rules are unfair, why doesn't he ever try getting more than 15% support in the polls so he can be apart of the process?

Oh. Yeah. It's Ralph Nader.

Brian,

If you were at all informed, you'd realize that the mainstream media has effectively blacked out any campaign that's not one of the two corporate parties. And the 15% you speak of is a rule created by the debate commission, which is owned by both parties and corporations. It's pretty difficult to get 15% when you're blacked out, and don't get me started about your whining comment. Do yourself a favor and check out the current Bonusgate scandal in PA and tell me how you can say third party candidates are whiners.

Do we or do we not live in a democracy? I think it's clear that our democracy is on life support if it even has a pulse left. When I hear people dismiss third party / independent candidates as mere annoyances, I'm very puzzled. What Brian, do you think our electoral system should look like if we had a thriving democracy? If you think what we have now is working, then you're not paying attention or you're watching too much television.

Thank god there are a handful of people left in this country who have some hope left and are willing to endure the ridicule of the uninformed masses to speak about how our government is utterly failing its duties to its citizens.

I don't care who it is, Ralph Nader, Chuck D, Jello Biafra, Cindy Sheehan, whoever. I'm just thankful someone's speaking for the many of us or are completely disillusioned with the two party system.

Hey Andy
That group of people that you are talkin about is the soon to be majority that I am proud to be a part of. It wont matter what happens in Nov. 08 but in 2012 you should see a muey difference.
The next 10 years are goin to be exciting times and as the majority tide turns we will all see a more cultural civilized way take hold.
